Our summer vacation has officially come to an end. I have to admit that I am happy about how I spent our summer. Not necessarily in what we did, more so in how we did it. I have often been guilty of being distracted by the nuances of life. Always waiting for everything to be "just right" so the kind of life I planned on living could happen. Does that make any sense?
When the boys get older, we can...
When this dog is trained, I can...
When our home is organized, I will feel...
When I finish school, I will be able to...
When John and I have some time for each other, our marriage will...
As I have shared in previous posts, I have been doing some soul searching over the past several months. There is quote by George Bernard Shaw that I love: Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. Isn't that a wonderful quote?! There was a sense of liberation when I did a paradigm shift in my mind regarding this very thing. Trying to find myself results in an endless voyage of confusion and nothingness. FRUSTRATION! When I turned my attention to God and accepted the way He created me...fearfully and wonderfully (Psalm 139:14)...I was free to live within that truth and start creating myself! There is truly freedom in this. There does not exists a boundary of how I am supposed to act and the confinement found in who I am supposed to be. I can be whatever my faith will allow God to create me to be! No restrictions. No boundaries. No limitations.
With a new perspective on living my life (and not waiting for the perfect conditions to live it!), I headed into the summer with a renewed sense of carpe diem! The summer passed quickly, but as we approached the beginning of a new school year, I felt a sense of satisfaction. We wore out our summer!

John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." Tru dat, Mr. Lennon, tru dat! I hope to face this new school year and all of its challenges with the same focus we had over the summer. Take each moment as it comes. Find the joy, the lesson, and sometimes, even the silliness in each moment. It's so much easier that trying to accomplish the impossible task of "aligning the planets" so that life will be just right. *laughing* What was I thinking???

“You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.”
