Forever Young

The Bible tells us that laughter is like medicine to our bones.  I've also heard that laughing will keep you young!  Well, then that must mean that our family is going to be FOREVER YOUNG!  Here are a few recent "funnies" that have occured in our life:

If you're wasting time having fun...you're NOT WASTING TIME!!! :)
After you...
The four of us were walking into a restaurant, and John was explaining to the boys how important it was to hold the door open for Mommy.  He went on to explain that they should do that for everyone, but especially women.  So, John held the door open for me then followed behind through the doors...right in front of a lady entering the restaurant!!!  He instantly realized what he had just done and apologized profusely as the lady laughed and laughed with the rest of us!  A classic example of "Do as I say, not as I do!"

breathing... :)
I was taking our dog Buddy to the vet to get "fixed."
Demetri:  Why does Buddy have to go to the vet?
Me:  He has to get neutered so he can't make puppies...
Demetri:  How is the vet gonna do that?
Me:  He's going to remove his walnuts  (a term our boys use)
Demetri:  What?!  How is he going to BREATHE???

How will I breathe???

Help from Happy!
I am shameless...I have been begging John for another dog.  I know, I know...why on earth do we need to add another dog to the crazy busy life we lead?  I guess I don't have an answer to that.  But, wouldn't it be fun?!  I'm certain Buddy needs a canine friend and I'm just a two dog kind of girl! :)

So, the four of us were in the car and I was presenting a really solid case to John about the acquisition of another dog.  The boys were totally on board and identified with my very reasonable argument.  John was holding is ground and not giving into the begging.  So, I stooped low (lied) and told him that I had a dream...Happy (our amazing dog that passed away last year from cancer) came to me in my dream and told me that we should get another dog...Well, John just laughed and said he would have to get a sign from Happy herself before he gave in.
*cell phone ringing*
I looked at my phone and didn't recognize the number, so I let to go to voicemail.  I immediately checked the message.  You won't believe this...I still can't really believe it!  It was a message from a rescue organization about the possibility of our family taking in another dog!!! I let John listen to the message and watched as his face froze.  Perhaps a sign???  No doubt in my mind!
Hi, Dad!  It's me...Happy! :)
So, while Happy clearly made her wishes for another dog to be added to the family known, we are still a one dog crew.  I haven't given up on the dream.  I know my beloved husband will come to his senses one day. :)
