Welcome to MY world!

I realized today that I am in the midst of the days I have been yearning for.  I will admit that I am not one of those women that LOVED to be pregnant, or couldn't get enough of the "baby" stage.  Many people in my life thought I was CRAZY to have our kids so close together.  Noah and Demetri are 22 months apart.  Those people were right.  The diaper years were EXCRUCIATING!  I would oftentimes daydream and imagine these two little boys at the ages of 5 and 7.  No diapers, no breastfeeding, no strollers, no highchairs.  Independently functioning little humans that I could have FUN with!  This daydream got me through so many meltdowns.

We have arrived!  I realized today that I need to soak in as much as I can...as much as I can get out of each moment we have together.  They still WANT to be with us!  They still think we have hung the MOON!  Our kisses are the magic that can drive the worst day away!

The busyness of life can be such a cancer.  John and I have been told by so many people to enjoy the time we have with Noah and Demetri now.  Before we know it, they will be all grown up and moving on in their lives.  I want to take the advice that so many have given.  It's time to CHOOSE US.  The dishes in the sink and the piled up laundry will always be there.  The list of "To-Do's" can and will need to wait.

Here's what can't wait:  light saber fights in the family room, food fights at the most inopportune moments, wii tournaments, family boardgame nights, Carandanis Wrestle Mania, basketball in the driveway, waterfights, fingerpainting, cuddletime...the list goes on and on.  This is the TO-DO list I want to spend my time working on.

I will blink and our boys will grow up.  With God's grace and mercy, I know Noah and Demetri will be fantastic blessings to our world.  I am taking captive these days I have with them.  I am learning to let go of the things that seem so important in the moment, but have no long-term value.  Our life is jam-packed with so many wonderful moments.  And THAT is what we can take with us into the future.

I pray for God's mercy on me.  I open myself up to Him and His plans for our life.  Lord, help me to savor and stake claim to these precious and beautiful moments you give us.  Thank you for your love and for being the ultimate example of a perfect parent.

I am giving notice to BUSYNESS!  I will be OK with playing in the backyard on a sunny day while the chores in the house go undone for one more day.  I will be OK with not getting my agenda checked off.  I will show my sincerity of being in the moment by not getting upset at the things that did not get accomplished on that list.  I will commit to reminding myself that saying "yes" to one thing is often saying "no" to something else.

I think I'll work on my light saber skills tomorrow with the boys...  :)
