6 moms vs. 21 kids!




Metzler Park Camping Trip 2011!

  I had the privilege of joining a group of precious moms on a camping trip to Metzler Park!  I was amazed at how well TWENTY-ONE children played games, scootered, biked, swam, ate, slept, and looked out for one another.  The older kids impressed me with their patience and willingness to include the younger ones.  The younger ones followed the rules and looked out for one another (for the most part!).  Besides the expected bumps and scrapes, everyone remained safe and injury free!

I also got to glimpse into the world of RV camping.  Wow.  Running water, flushing toilets, showers, refrigerators/freezers, stoves, microwaves, AC, DVD players, beds with memory foam...the list goes on and on!  This is a very different experience I look forward to having someday.  As for this trip, though,   I pitched my REI tent and slept out in the beautiful night.  I had three kids with me in my tent and it was absolute bliss for me.  Listening to them breathing so deeply, as their little bodies recovered from a full day of activity was music to my ears, as the quietness of the night was almost deafening to me.   I snuggled deep into my sleeping bag as the cool air blanketed us in our tent.  Although I was tempted to use the amenities of the RV, I settled into my usual camping routine of cooking over the fire.  There is NOTHING like coffee, eggs and bacon over a campfire!  Ahhh...bliss.  Even better is having the company of good friends as you drink your coffee and eat your breakfast! 

Gina, Tiffany, Amy H., Amy K., and Kara...thank you so much for allowing me to join you on this wonderful camping adventure!  I enjoyed every minute of it, and so did my boys!  Your children are beautiful and I love that you all love dogs, like me!  Lucy girl, Truffles, and Happy are the luckiest dogs on earth!!!
